Customizing
Research In Motion (RIM) makes it so easy to take part in the development of new tools for their phones (if you're a developer). Download the developers kit here if you know what you are a developer.
The average user will find the coolest tools for free from various websites. You'll want to look around because there's a LOT out there!
Check out the "Links You'll Love". These sites have a plethora (and I DO mean plethora) of themes, apps, and help forums for all Blackberrys.
Links You'll Love
- Crackberry.com
Tons of accessories you could ever want for your blackberry. - Pinstack
A gem of blackberry themes and customizations for your blackberry. - Themes4bb.com
Free blackberry themes here! - Eveek.com
Another great theme site.
What's a Theme?
A theme is just a cool look that you can use for your Blackberry. You can create backgrounds, icons, and other special behaviors that you want. For example, if you are a Red Sox fan you could have a Red Sox background with a red and white color scheme. You can search for free themes at the links provided, but be sure that you choose the right theme for your phone. If you download the wrong theme, you'll run into problems.

How To Install Themes
- Install the software (Blackberry Device Manager and Blackberry Media Manager) from the CD that comes with your Blackberry. This is how you will load themes to your phone.
- Note the software version that you are running on your Blackberry by going to Options then About. Your screen will read something like "BlackBerry(r) 8320 smartphone (EDGE, WiFi) v4.2.2.180 (Platform 2.5.0.36)." In this example, the version of software I'm running is version 4.2.2. This is very important when downloading themes and applications.
- Download a theme from somewhere like Pinstack.com.
- Follow these directions to complete the process. http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com/showthread.php?t=31887.
